About me
I am Amena Musavi, I studied Graphic Design at Kabul University, graduated, and started working in the field. But along the way, I discovered something deeper, a love for drawing that had always been inside me.
That realization became even stronger when I worked as an art teacher at a private school Many of my students, especially girls, had grown up in an environment filled with fear, violence and limitations. They had never been encouraged to dream. But when they picked up a pencil, something changed. I saw excitement in their eyes when they draw Art gave them a voice, a way to imagine a different future.
That experience changed my perspective. I understood that art wasn’t just about making beautiful pictures—it was a tool for hope. It could inspire children to dream beyond their circumstances. Their stories felt personal to me because I had lived a similar life. I knew how it felt to grow up in a world that tried to silence dreams. But I also knew that creativity had the power to change that.
Motivated by this, I started illustrating children's books. I collaborated with an Afghan publisher to bring meaningful stories to life. Later, I worked with UNESCO to illustrate books that helped children and adults expand their knowledge. I also created over 300 illustrations for The Muslim Institute to support educational projects.
Now, as an Afghan illustrator based in Ireland, I continue to create art with purpose. My goal is to inspire, educate, and bring hope, life, love, and colour through my illustrations. If you have a project that shares this vision, I would love to collaborate. Let’s create something meaningful together.
